The Cake Lady

So last week Thursday Jen and I went to Yorkdale Mall, and met up with a wedding cake decorator. She was nice, however I don't think that she is right for what Michael and I are looking for. She was a very nice person, but there were a few things that I wish that I could have seen. First off she works from home, which is fine, but it would have been nice to see her working environment to see how clean it is. I know that this might not matter to most people, but I'm really into seeing how clean the kitchen is of a place that is going to be serving me food. Michael and I saw the kitchen for the hall, and I was very impressed with how well maintained it was.

Anyway, she was great, but very limited to her cake designs. We are looking for something non traditional, and although she had some good ideas I don't think that she saw the vision that I did. I understand that people have different views, but she really didn't have anything to show off a non-tradtional approach to cake making.

Anyway, I have also realized that along with just the regular wedding stuff I am going to include in the blog personal wedding preparations. For starters my stylist for the big day is really amazing. She was the first make up artist that just didn't talk about my make up for the day. When I met with her we discussed evening my skin tone for the pictures which is something I never really thought about. So currently that is what I am working on with my face, all the way down to just above my breasts.

Currently I'm using a new milk cleanser at night, and a thicker cream to keep my face moisturized. Also I don't know if any of you have this issue but my right around my nails I tend to get dry skin. So nightly I put on a lemon salve by Watkins, and it's the best thing that I've ever used. My nails look great, and around them is nice and moist without the lifted skin.

So right now for the wedding we're working on the cake, decorator, and me. I know that I have a ways to go but I really want to make sure that my skin is in great shape for the big day.

Ohhh another thing I'm hitting the gym. It's sometimes hard to get motivated to go, but I enjoy it when I do go. So I shall keep you posted on the progress.

Smooth Sailing

So things are coming along. Michael and I are currently looking at wedding cake makers, and designers for the wedding. Today I have a meeting with one, and Jen will be accompaying me, if I like her the I'll take Michael to meet with her also. I think though for cakes that we're going to be seeing quite a few people since what we're looking for is not traditional at all.

Actually, an old elementary school friend of mine (Meghan), is a cake maker and I've asked to meet with her already. I think that it would be kind of neat having someone that I know to make the cake. We shall see though, because like I said it's not something that either of us are taking lightly.

On another more fun note Michael and I have REGISTERED. I've never had so much fun before. There was so much to see and so much to choose from, but it was just so awesome thinking that in a little while Michael and I are going to have our own home and a place to put all these things. It's just so great thinking that I can have dinner parties and have my friends come over. I also realize all the work involved with having our own home, but it's nice to see things start to come together. So we registered at William Ashley and Kitchen and Stuff Plus. Basically we did both because WA has more of our fine china, it also has an every day set but there items are a bit priceier. We chose K&SP because the things there are for every day use, and a cheaper in price. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I have a whole bunch of cards to send out with invitations.

The other thing wedding wise that I'm working on with Judy is a shower for a friend of mine. Her wedding is a month after mine, but we're brain storming ideas at the moment so we can start getting things on the move. I realize how early it is, but I want to make sure that nothing is over looked since things are going to be so close together. It's fun coming up with ideas for a shower, this is what I love to do.

Anyway, not much else is happening at the moment, but I will keep you posted on the cake people.

Until next time.
